Pink Pirate

This is the 3rd birthday cake I've done for my friend's little girl. Every year she has the best ideas from Justin Bieber and Hannah Montana to pink pirates and cross bones. They're celebrating this year's birthday with family in Idaho so I needed to make the cake durable enough for a long drive. I added lots of zebra stripes and a 3D skull on top of the bright pink fondant. She hates chocolate so we always do vanilla with strawberry buttercream. Yum! Here's to another great birthday Serenity!

Cupcake Party

I did these cupcakes for my good friend Kate. She hosted a birthday card making party and wanted some yummy treats to compliment the theme. She's always so great to let me do whatever I want. I do so much chocolate and vanilla that I get oddly excited to try out a new flavor. These were pineapple cake with coconut buttercream, banana cake with nutella frosting, lime coconut cake with lime buttercream and chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. They turned out great and so did the cards. I took my daughter and we had a great time pretending to be crafty. Thanks Kate!

20 Cakes!

My friend Shona was in charge of her church's Christmas party this year and decided to enlist my help with the centerpieces. She had 20 tables set up and wanted a simple Christmas cake to sit in the center of each. I agreed thinking it would be a ton of work but vastly underestimated how many tons. I did every inch of work by myself from mixing all the cake batter (10 double batches of vanilla), to kneading the fondant and washing all the dishes. I ran my dishwasher twice a day for several days! In the end the cakes turned out beautiful and the party looked perfect.

Halloween Cake

I love it when I get asked to do a cake for Halloween. I did this one for my friend Kate's costume party. I found a picture of another Halloween themed cake with a spooky tree that looked amazing so I took a crack at it. The tree is hand painted (with food coloring) onto the fondant- which turned out to be a ton easier than I anticipated. I finished off the decorations with fallen leaves, a black cat & bat and a mini pumpkin on top (rice krispies covered with fondant). The flavors included an apple spice cake with cinnamon buttercream. Happy Halloween Kate!

Train Cake

This was a cake I did for a friend of a friend. Cassie, the mom, lives in California but was coming to Utah to celebrate her little boy's 2nd birthday. She had seen some cakes I did for other people and decided to give me a call. The theme was trains so we decided on a 3 car train filled with candy. She suggested we fill it with old fashioned candies like you'd find in a soda shop. Such a great idea. She wanted to keep the cake flavor simple, which I try to avoid :) I did a cinnamon vanilla cake with a cinnamon brown sugar frosting. Super yum. The entire cake was a blast to put together I'm so glad for the opportunity. Happy Birthday Beckham!

Teddy Bear Cake

I did this cake for one of my favorite neighbors. Her adorable little girl was turning 1 and they wanted a special cake to celebrate. The only criteria I had was that it needed to look girly. I did a striped/polka dot combo with pinks, purple, lime green and light brown. I did a teddy bear on top with a number 1 on her belly. The cake was vanilla with a deathly delicious brown sugar Swiss meringue. I hope everyone enjoyed it!!

Rosette Cake

This is a cake I did on referral from another wedding cake. I've seen this design a few different times and love how the rosette's give it a modern feel. The bride, Rachel, wanted it tinted gold with red flowers and pearl white beads every other tier. Flavors included key lime cake with coconut cream filling, raspberry swirl with chocolate ganache and chocolate with raspberry cream filling. I had to deliver it all put together, twenty minutes away, with both of my kids. So stressful. Fortunately there were no disasters. Congratulations Rachel and Steve!
